The same technique is used with How Many More Years with Howlin' Wolf performing the song that gracefully morphs into a live Bonamassa and band performance. This is an effective technique which pays homage to the music's origins and two of the bluesmen that paved the way/5().

Mar 24,  · Joe Bonamassa’s new CD features his incredible concert from August 31, which took place at the famous and drop-dead gorgeous Red Rocks Amphitheatre. The show is a spectacular celebration of the music of Muddy Waters and Howlin’ Wolf, featuring many of the two blues legends’ greatest songs and a few Bonamassa classics.

Muddy would be proud of this rendition. At the beginning of Wolf's "How Many More Years", Bonamassa sounds eerily like the big man, but the song continues as an original effort. "Shake For Me" is another highlight, and props have to go out to the band members here. The Lee Thornburg Horns play with great taste, never overshadowing the boss/5().

Joe Bonamassa designed his Red Rocks tribute concert to Muddy Waters and Howlin' Wolf as a fund-raiser for his Keeping the Blues Alive foundation, so it makes sense that the accompanying live album begins with a capsule history of the Mississippi Delta blues, and also has interview excerpts from Waters and Wolf peppered throughout. Bonamassa wanted this particular show to be instructive in.
