   Second album pour Candlemass et seconde réussite. "Nightfall" () voit l'arrivée au sein du groupe du chanteur à la robe de bure, Messiah Marcolin. Un personnage haut en couleurs qui va jouer un rôle important dans la popularité du groupe. Le style défini avec le premier épisode, "Epicus Doomicus Metallicus", est encore à l'honneur/5(73).

   The original title for the album was Gothic Stone, but Marcolin rejected Edling's idea and conviced the band to use the title Nightfall instead. Marcolin is also responsible for the choice of the cover of the album, which is the "Old Age" portion of the series of paintings .

   After a legendary debut release, Candlemass had to repopulate the band when shaping up to deliver "Nightfall." Even though this is the sequel, and you may look at this album and feel it's longer than the debut, it actually still only has six songs if you take away the instrumental build-up and lead in songs.
